It's no secret that Texas summers are hot. A Texas tradition is to cool off with a batch of real homemade ice cream. I can remember as kid going down to a neighbors house during the sweltering summers to make peach ice cream. We'd all take turns on the old hand-cranked ice cream maker and play with the rock salt.

You never know just what you might find.

  • Can be found at the North end of the Arbors off Dealers Row.
  • Family run since 1972. That's quite a history.

• Turner's Homemade Ice Cream
  • 401 N Trade Days Blvd.
  • Started in 1988 with one flavor: vanilla. They've since added others as customers requested.
  • Just about famous . . . and they have other stuff in their country store.

What About the Other Guys?

We realize that you can't mention ice cream in Texas without also talking about Blue Bell. So, if you need to get your Blue Bell fix while visiting Canton, head over to the Dairy Palace. They offer hand-dipped Blue Bell along with Henry's, another Texas ice cream maker.
