Things You Need to Know Before Heading to Canton First Monday Flea Market

May 2021

Spring is here! The Canton First Monday countdown has begun!

The biggest event of the Spring – the Canton flea market  is around the corner. The Four-days  event will take place on Thursday Sunday before the first Monday of each month.

We are already thinking of last year's trip to Canton Flea market. The trip was memorable, and we spent way more than we expected or planned to – It was worth it! We found some great products and brought vintage pieces to enhance the décor of the house.

This year we are planning to head out and enjoy the Canton event again. If you haven't been there, you need to plan a trip.

Take out your pen and paper, and write down these things you need to know before you go junkin' in Canton flea market.

Arrival Time

The Canton Flea is an ‘AMAZING’ event. Shoppers are excited and rushing to have the first look at items. The flea market is open for business from 8am to 5am. If you are planning to head out before time, you may find people arrive before sunrise with flashlights so that they don’t miss an opportunity to purchase the antique equipment.

The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have to park your car near the market: just remember where you park your car; otherwise, be prepared for the hassle.

Dress Comfortably

Try to dress casually because you have to walk, walk and walk. When you are visiting the Canton flea market, it's better to wear your walking shoes. Dress as comfortably as possible. In Texas, the weather is unpredictable, so first check the weather updates and then dress accordingly. The best dress to wear is shorts and tops paired with sneakers or joggers.

Cash is King at Canton Flea Market

While you can find ATMs there, they might be at the one end of the flea market. It's better to bring along cash as only a few vendors accept both credit/debit cards at Canton flea market. Bringing cash with you ensures that you aren’t missing out on the piece you want to purchase.

In short, shop until you drop.

Best Time to Shop

The best time to shop at Canton flea market is Thursday, as it is the least crowded. Weekends are more crowded, but the vendor is open to negotiations. Summer is hot; spring is the best time to shop at a flea market. If you want to enjoy every bit of this event, then come early, then stay till the end.

At the End – Pro Tip

A thousand shoppers flock to the Canton flea market twice a year. You can be one of them. It might be better if you add these few things to your list so you can make most of it:

  • Cash
  • A hat or baseball cap
  • Sunscreen
  • Lots of water
  • Snacks
  • Umbrella
  • Hand sanitizer and paper towel

As we mentioned above, our trip had been best last year. We hope this guide helps you to explore the Canton Flea market in a better way.
